Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) -
Durable Medical Equipment Prosthetics, Orthotics and Supplier (DMEPOS)

The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) administers the Medicare and Medicaid programs within the U.S. with a budget of roughly $610 billion. These programs provide health insurance to almost 100 million citizens, including the elderly and disabled. The risk of fraud or abuse is great in a program of this size, which affects so many people.

The recently-developed Durable Medical Equipment (DME) community is an example of how Triton has simplified information exchange. The solution includes an interactive U.S. map that renders accreditation information at the state and county level based on weekly data compiled from various vendors. Users can quickly hone in on states struggling in the accreditation process or underperforming in providing services. Users can then quickly drill down all the way to specific counties within troubled states.

By using the interactive map and community, CMS now has unprecedented access to data otherwise kept disparately across the country. Because of the success of this data visualization solution within CMS, it is being re-utilized within the HHS Office of Business Information Systems (OBIS). OBIS will use the same interactive map concept to identify national helpdesks and to track their performance metrics. Using that visualization, OBIS will be able to quickly identify trends and appropriately assign resources, ultimately optimizing customer service.

Agencies need expert advice and support services to help them navigate an IT landscape in which computing capacity is sourced from the cloud.
